| New York City Soundscape is an ensemble led by trumpeter Vinnie Cutro that features noted jazz musicians located in the New Yolk area. The concept in forming this group is to record original material contributed by musicians from the New York scene and also re-introduce jazz standards presented in a modern, fresh format. This particular CD release of New York City Soundscape features the artistry of celebrated musicians Mike Stern, Victor Jones, Bob Ferrel, Mitch Schechter, Martin Wind and Sarah Jane Cion. The title song of the CD (Aberration: a departure from the normal or typical) suggests this concept of focusing on new images, new directions and sounds. Cutro plans on recording future CD projects incorporating the many different elements of today's music including a variety of musicians and multicultural sounds. There is much to say about this album, but for those who are newcomers to this music or to this artist, a little background is in order.
